He also engages in healthcare economics analysis. He received his medical, legal, and biomedical engineering degrees from Wayne State University and his Master of Public Health from Harvard University. Wayne State University in Detroit is a leading center for the study of vehicular (car and truck) impact biomechanics as well as industrial hygiene and toxicology. Biomedical engineering is the area of engineering that includes biomechanical engineering. In addition, he has a Master of Science in Threat Response Management (biological, chemical, and radiological defense) from the University of Chicago. He is the former Medical Director of the Detroit Health Department. He served for many years on the faculty of Wayne State University School of Medicine.
