Michael P. Bigwood, PhD is a Physical Organic Chemist with 8 years of industrial research, 5 years of research management and 18 years of technical consulting product synthesis experience relating to the Design and Development of Polymeric Materials. Through this experience, Dr. Bigwood has learned how to control the chemistry and morphology of polymeric materials, and acquired in-depth understanding of the way in which these parameters influence their interaction with small organic molecules as well as large biological products such as peptides and proteins. Dr. Bigwood has applied this knowledge to the development of novel products and processes in water and wastewater treatment, chromatography, bioprocessing, catalysis and solid phase synthesis. As a research manager, he led the product and applications development effort of the world’s largest ion exchange resins manufacturer. Dr. Bigwood offers litigation support services to attorneys for both Plaintiff and Defense in a broad range of areas relating to the development, manufacture and use of polymeric materials. He also provides laboratory services, including reproducing patent examples and preparing expert reports on his findings. He has vast experience with the drafting of records of inventions and patent applications. Dr. Bigwood has provided expert witness services in two cases, one involving polymer synthesis, and one involving the performance of a polymeric material. These activities included the preparation of seven expert reports or declarations, two depositions, and one testimony.
