I am a Temporary Traffic Control Specialist and have been in the industry for 30+ years. With my Associates we have a combined experience of over 100+ years in Traffic Control. While working for the City of Overland Park, KS as a Traffic Control Technician in the Traffic Engineering Division, some of my duties included Plan Review of the plans submitted for work in the city limits, Right of Way Permit review for necessary temporary traffic control plans, Redesign of the City handbook specific to temporary traffic control including the municipal codes which pertained to them, Design of Temporary Traffic Control Patterns for in house designs, design of Special Event plans for all events including marathons, festivals, parades and any impediment of traffic in the city limits. I have been providing testifying expert services for three years focusing on Intellectual Property issues around sensor and data systems, primarily in vehicles. I have developed several IPR petitions as well as infringement and invalidity reports and testimony. I have developed complex sensor and data analytics systems since 1980 with an emphasis on vehicle systems since 1992 and particular expertise in distributed systems and connected vehicle systems combining information and processing from vehicles and infrastructure. I have in-vehicle technology expertise in the area of sensors (including maps, positioning, vision, radar, diagnostics and braking systems) and data processing (communications, data fusion, data analytics, machine learning). I combine this with expertise on connecting vehicles with the infrastructure (cellular communications, DSRC, WiFi, security, cost models, probe data collection) and the transportation infrastructure itself (traffic models, traffic operations, ATIS, tolling, data analytics, GIS) to provide various transportation applications (navigation, Usage Based Insurance (UBI), roadway management, information services (ATIS, 511), collision notification and warning, remote diagnostics electronic horizons, stability control, mapping, situational awareness and Driver Assistance (ADAS)). I have participated in, and sometimes led, the development of key telematics technologies working with major automakers (GM, Toyota, VW, Ford, Mercedes, BMW, Nissan) and suppliers as well as federal and state government entities. Prior to joining the automotive industry I worked on various aerospace systems, including radar, reconnaissance, communications, artificial intelligence, and tracking systems, as well as software development. I hold 6 US patents with several others pending. I present frequently and my work has appeared in multiple reference books. I am known for my ability to take complex subjects, explain them and excite my audience.
