Recipient of a dozen Environmental Protection Agency awards, Dr. Troast has built his 40-year career tackling environmental issues such as asbestos in schools, radon exposure and lead contamination. As a senior scientist for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Superfund program, he chaired a Technical Review Workgroup for lead and created another for asbestos, organizing national meetings with federal and state agencies to discuss exposure characteristics. After the EPA, Dr. Troast worked with the U.S. Agency for International Development in the Kingdom of Jordan on the control of industrial waste. As a legislative aide to a U.S. Senator during the 97th Congress, Dr. Troast focused on pending environmental legislation, including Amendments to the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act. His consulting work includes complete environmental assessments with emphasis on lead and arsenic exposure and toxicity, site remediation and cleanup of hazardous chemicals, asbestos and water issues.
